JAMB: Only 100% Fit CBT Centres Will Be Used For 2022 UTME

  The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said only Computer-Based Centres that are 100 per cent prepared will be used for its 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The board announced this in its Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on 13th December 2021 in Abuja JAMB said as part of its preparations for the 2022 UTME, it had concluded arrangements to validate and accredit CBT centres to be used for the exercise. It explained that the development followed the outcome of its virtual meetings with its Chief Technical Advisers, Zonal Directors, State Coordinators and Technical Officers for the accreditation of the board’s examination centres. JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, was quoted as saying that “the validation exercise is necessary to assess the conduct of the 2021 UTME and to look at those areas requiring improvement”. UNILORIN bans tinted vehicles, learner drivers on campus

  The authorities of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) have banned tinted and unregistered vehicles on campus. The management also banned learners drivers on campus. The ban is coming days after a fatal auto crash that occurred last Monday on the main campus, claiming the lives of five persons, including students and staff of the institution. The ban signed by the university’s management titled: “Tinted Vehicles, Unregistered Vehicles, and Learner Drivers.” It said such vehicles would no longer be allowed on the campus of the University of Ilorin. The management warned that violation of the policy will attract penalties as such vehicles will be impounded and the offenders prosecuted. To Prevent ASUU Strike, FG pays Lecturers N52.5bn Revitalisation Fund, Earned Allowance

  In efforts to avoid the impending ASUU Strike, the Federal Government has paid lecturers a total of N52.5bn for the Revitalisation Fund and Earned Allowance. According to the report by  thisDayLive , the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, said that he had received confirmation from the Federal Ministry of Finance that funds had been released to the universities for the revitalisation of infrastructure and payment of earned allowances. In Ngige’s words: “By yesterday, (Friday) the Accountant General’s Office and the Funds Office of the Federal Ministry of Finance told me that they paid the Earned Allowances to the 38 federal universities and by today (Saturday) all the affected universities would have gotten their monies for workers. “I have forwarded the position to the ASUU leadership”.   The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may or may not embark on a nationwide strike on Wednesday, Dec 15. The PunchNewspaper has  reported  that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU may (or may not) embark on a nationwide strike on Wednesday, December 15th. According to the report, a source confided in them and revealed that the academic body might shut down the universities depending on the outcome of the zonal meetings scheduled to end on Dec 15. The source also added that the meetings would span between December 9 and December 15 in Abuja, Nsukka, Ibadan, Yola, Benin, Akure, Lagos, Bauchi, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Sokoto and Kano. “The decision on whether to go on strike or not would depend on the outcome of the meetings from each zone”.
