Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology (RSCHST) various National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes for the 2022/2023 academic session.

Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology Admission Requirements.

  • Admission into ND programmes is open to candidates who sat and passed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 2022/2023 Academic Year and scored 120 points and above.
  • Applicants who did not choose Rivers State College of Health Science and Management Technology may also apply. Such candidates are required to do change of choice of Institution through JAMB and make College their first choice.
  • Applicants will be invited for a screening exercise on a date and venue that may be made known to them through their telephone contacts (SMS)
  • Applicants are to ensure that only valid and functional telephone contacts are provided as the College shall not be held liable for failure to receive message through SMS.

Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology Courses and Requirements.

The courses listed below are available for application for the 2022/2023 academic session:

1.0 SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

Environmental Health Technicians (Diploma) 3years

Entry requirement:

  • Four (4) credits and two passes in GCE/WAEC/NECO examination. The Credits must be in any of the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science, at not more than two sittings,
  • Holders of Environmental Health Assistant certificate with two years post qualification experience may be admitted at 200 level of Environmental Health Technician programme provided they fulfill the entry requirement above.

Health Promotion and Education (Diploma) 2 years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) credit passes in GCE/SSCE/NECO or Teachers Grade it Certificate, must include English Language, Biology and three science subjects including Chemistry, Health Science, Nutrition, Physics, General Science or Integrated Sciences.

2.0 SCHOOL OF COMMUNITY HEALTH

Community Health Extension Workers Programme (Diploma) 3years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) O level credits in English language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science and Chemistry and any other credit in Agric, Economics, Geography, Literature and Commerce at WASC/NECO/GCE O’ level at not more than two sittings.

Junior Community Health Extension Workers Programme (Certificate) 2years

Entry requirement:

  • Three (3) Credit in WASC/NECO/GCE. Subject should include: English Language, mathematics, Biology/Health Science and any other two passes at not more than two sittings.

Emergency Medical technician (Diploma) 3years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) Credit passes in WASC/NECO/SSCE or GCE. Subjects include: English Language, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings.

Dispensing Opticianry Technician Programme (Diploma) 3 years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) Credit in WASC/NECO/SSCE or GCE. Subjects include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics at not more than two sittings.

3.0 SCHOOL OF PHARMACY TECHICIAN

Pharmacy Technician Programme (Diploma) 3years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) O’ level credits in WASC/GCE/NECO which must include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics at not more than two sittings.

4.0 SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SOCIAL WORK

Medical Social Work (Diploma) 3years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) O’ level credit in WASC/GCE or NECO which must include English Language, Mathematics and three (3) other subjects chosen from each of the underlisted subject groupings
  • (Government/History/Civil Education, Christian Religious/Islamic Knowledge)
  • (Health Science/Biology)
  • (Economics/Commerce/Geography) at not more than 2 sittings.

5.0 SCHOOL OF DENTAL HEALTH SCIENCE

Dental Surgery Technician/Dental Health Technician Programme (Diploma) 3years

Entry requirement:

  • Four (4) credits in WASC/GCE or NECO which must include Chemistry/Physics, Biology or Health Science, English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.

Anesthetic Technician Programm (Certificate) 2years

Entry requirement:

  • Four (4) Credit passes in WASC/NECO/SSCE or GCE Subject include: Mathematic, Physics, Biology/Chemistry and English Language at not more than two sittings.

6.0 SCHOOL OF HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

Health Information Management (Professional Diploma) 3years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) credits in WASC/GCE or NECO examinations at not more than two sittings. The credits must be in Mathematics, English Language, Biology/Health Science, and other two credits from any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Commerce, Economics, Government etc.

Health Information Management (Abridgement) 1year

Entry requirement:

  • National Certificate in Information management (NCIM) in addition to possession of entry requirement for Health Information Management.

Hospital/Health Administration (Diploma) 2years

Entry requirement:

  • Four (4) O’ level Credits in WASC/GCE/SSCE in Mathematics, English Language Economics/Government and Biology at not more than two sittings.

7.0 SCHOOL OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE

Medical Laboratory Technician Programme (Certificate) 3years

Entry requirement:

  • Fives (5) credits in WASC/GCE or NECO which must include: Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Physics and Mathematics at not more than two sittings and must be obtained within a space of 10 years prior to enrollment or NABTEB certificate.

Medical Laboratory Technician Programme (Abridgment) 2years

Entry requirement:

  • Holders of Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate in addition to the above requirement should apply

8.0 SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Public Health Nursing (HND) 2years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) O’ level credit in WASC/GCE/SSCE, which must include English Language, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. In addition, candidates must possess any of the under listed:
    Nigerian Registered Nurse Certificate (or Accident and Emergency Certificate (for males) etc plus one year post qualification experience.

Public Health Nursing Abridgement (Refresher) programme (HND) 1year

Entry requirement:

  • National Diploma in Public Health Nursing in addition to five credits in English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and a pass in Mathematics in WASC/NECO/GCE.

Public Health (Diploma) 2years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) credits in WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO which must include: English Language, mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Health Science at not more than two sittings.

9.0 SCHOOL OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

Biomedical Engineering Technician Programme (Diploma)3years

Entry requirement:

  • Five (5) O’ Level Credits in WASC/GCE/SSCE in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry or NABTEB certificate.

  • Registration for the Post UTME examination is on-line @College Campus and is ongoing
  • Interested applicants are to make a payment of N2,000 application fee into the College ZENITH BANK ACCOUNT NO: 1010771892 and obtain a pin voucher for N1, 000 at ICT office of the College to complete the on-line processing of application form.
  • Direct entry applicants for HND programmes are to make a payment of N11,000 application fee into College ZENITH BANK NO: 1010771892 and obtain a pin voucher for N1,000 at the ICT Office of the College to complete the on-line application form.

SHORTLISTED candidates will be subjected to an entrance Examination on a date and venue that may be made known to them through their telephone number (SMS)

ASUU Strike: UNICAL Orders Students Out Of Hostels

  The management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has ordered students of the institution out of their hostels with immediate effect due to the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). A statement released on Tuesday by the Registrar Gabriel Egbe said following the industrial action embarked upon by ASUU, the school can no longer provide essential services in the hostels. “The strike has adversely affected the provision of essential services in the halls of residence and on the campus, generally making it difficult to meet up with the management of these essential services. “Consequently, the acting Chief Security Officer of the institution has been advised to lock up all the hostels as well as deploy security men to man all the halls of residence. “Management wishes all students journey mercies, as they travel to meet their parents/guardians,” the statement said.
