ASUU President Reacts to the Fresh Court Order

 Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has finally reacted to the ruling made by the appeal court, see their next line of action. Recall that earlier today, the appeal court had ordered ASUU to call off it’s ongoing strike within 7days if it want to appeal the order given by the NIC. In reaction to the fresh court judgement, ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, told DAILY POST that the union is yet to officially receive the Appeal Court ruling. He said: “We have not received the ruling, when we get it, we will review it with our lawyer and then we can take the next step”. He said the union would go through the document with its lawyers and decide on its next line of action after receiving the judgement. HolaDav Thanks for reading this article. Appeal Court Orders ASUU Members to Call Off their Strike Immediately

 The appeal court has ordered ASUU to call off its ongoing strike. This is after the union filed a 14-grounds appeal after the industrial court ordered the union to call off the strike. Recall that the Accademic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU ) had filed a 14 grounds appeal after the industrial court ordered it to call off it’s ongoing strike. In recent developments, The Court of Appeal has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its strike immediately. The court, however, granted the application on the condition that the union obeys the lower court’s ruling and calls off the strike immediately, pending the determination of the substantive suit. Court recommends out-of-court settlement for FG and ASUU

  A Court of Appeal in Abuja has recommended an out-of-court settlement to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government, following ASUU’s 14 grounds appeal. Recall that ASUU had filed a 14-grounds appeal over the court order issued by a national industrial court in Abuja asking the union to call off its ongoing strike. Justice Georgewill Biobele Abraham who presided over the case, asked the counsel to the Federal Government, James Igwe (SAN) and that of ASUU, Femi Falana (SAN), to first sit down as lawyers, take a patriotic position and convey the position to their clients. He said: “There is time for everything, time for war, and time for peace. As Ministers in the temple of justice, we want to see the two of you as senior lawyers encourage and explore amicable settlement of this dispute. “In fact, we expect to return to this court on Thursday with the good news that the dispute has been thrashed out and all the appreciation of Nigerians will go to you. “

FG Awards Scholarship to Talented Boy Who Builds Moving Robots With Local Materials

  The federal government has awarded a scholarship to a 17-year-old genius who designs moving robots with cardboard paper. 17-year-old genius,  Isah Barde who designed mobile robots with just cardboards , has finally gotten the recognition he deserves. Barde has been awarded a scholarship to study computer engineering, at the Baze University in Abuja, for building a functional robot from scratch with cardboard papers. He revealed that he started building things in childhood and had started with things like tractors and excavators before moving to robots. He said, he got his inspiration from the movies and online video and decided to start building a robot. He started during the pandemic and it had taken him two years to build the robot with simple and everyday items. On what his biggest challenge was, the 17-year-old revealed that some of the challenges he faced were his inability to get some of the high-powered materials that he would like to use and that some people didn’t believe in

Nigerian Talented Boy Builds Human Controlled Robot With Local Materials, Wows Many (Video)

  A talented Nigerian young boy has wowed social media users with his creation of a human-controlled robot in Kano state. The bright-minded teenager built a fully functional humanoid with local materials which he controls while putting on a bimanual device. A video making the rounds online captures him demonstrating how the robot mimics his movement courtesy of the control. Nigerians have already begun to call for the government to recognize and support the boy so that his skills can be used positively, below are some of the comments we picked; @ Ehis_Ebhos: “These are the kind of things @PeterObi is taking about. The youths in 🇳🇬 are so blessed. Imagine what Peter Obi will do for this guy if he becomes president.” @Felidondollarlo: “Nigeria need good leader that can unite us and fund us to develop our talent to explore, we have many talents in Nigeria but our bad leaders are destroying them so that we will continue clapping for their children after clapping for them.” @Stanslim_Arin

ASUU Strike: Sokoto State Governor orders his Varsity Lecturers to Resume Classes or Forfeit their Salaries

  The governor of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal has told the state’s university to resume academic activities or forfeit their salaries. Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has ordered members of the Sokoto State University branch of ASUU to resume classes or forfeit their salary forthwith. He asked them to reconsider their position and go back to work, maintaining that the issues raised by ASUU branches in federal universities are not the same as what obtains in the state university. He urged them to resume work if they have the interest of the state and its students at heart, stressing that last month he stopped the payment of their salary because he has been magnanimous enough by paying them more than five months’ salary without work. Only 12 Nigerian Universities Approved to Operate Distance Learning Centres, FG Releases List

  CURSORY: The federal government has released a list of Nigerian universities that are qualified to operate distance learning center, see list below. The commission in a bulletin published on Monday, September 20, also stated that the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) which has 72 study/resource centers  nationwide is currently the only approved open university in Nigeria.
